About the Irish Life Dublin Marathon
The Irish Life Dublin Marathon is a must-see event for runners worldwide, as it offers a unique and memorable experience. The 26.2-mile route takes runners through Dublin’s most iconic landmarks and neighbourhoods, including Trinity College, Dublin Castle, and Phoenix Park. The course is designed to showcase the best of Dublin, providing runners with a blend of urban scenery, historic sites, and green spaces.

The Course
The race starts and finishes in the city centre, with a scenic tour in between. The course is relatively flat, with some inclines and declines, making it suitable for both novice and seasoned runners. Water and aid stations are strategically placed throughout the route to ensure runners remain hydrated and energized.
The atmosphere is electric and the camaraderie among runners is strong, with many sharing stories, offering encouragement, and supporting each other throughout the race.
Aside from the unforgettable experience of running through the city, the Dublin Marathon also offers a range of practical benefits. The Irish climate is favourable for marathon running, with average temperatures around 12-14°C (53-57°F) in October and about 30 inches of rain annually. To help runners meet their time targets, pacers are provided every ten minutes. All finishers receive a technical long sleeve t-shirt and a special medal as a token of their achievement.
In addition to the marathon itself, runners can attend the Dublin Marathon EXPO held in the RDS, accessible from the city centre. Here, runners can collect their race number and pre-race goodie bag and browse through many running stalls.
