Race Route

Starting on the Balheary Road outside Swords Village, the fast and flat route for the 2026 Irish Life Fingal 10K finished back on the Balheary Road.

Tips to Beat the Heat on Race Day

Please carefully read the tips below to ensure you are adequately hydrated and prepared to finish strong at the Irish Life Fingal 10K!

2026 Race Information

Please arrive on race day wearing your race number, securely attached to the front of your top.

As all race numbers are posted in advance, race number collection is not available on race day.

Please ensure you are wearing your own allocated race number.

Your timing chip is attached to the back of your race number. Do not remove or tamper with the chip, as it records your official finish time.

Attach your race number securely using safety pins. A supply of safety pins will also be available on race day.

Please keep your numbers safe, as replacing them will cost €10.

If you entered the Irish Life Fingal 10k and the Irish Life Frank Duffy 10 mile as a bundle, both numbers will be posted together.

If you plan to use the baggage facility, simply detach the baggage label from the bottom of your race number and securely attach it to your bag before arriving at the baggage area.

Please note that all bags are left at the owner’s risk. We recommend that you do not leave valuables in your bag.

The baggage drop will be located on the Balheary Road at the exit of Seatown West.

The start area will be clearly signposted, with the race beginning on Balheary Road.

The opening 4K of the route follows Balheary Road before turning left onto Harlockstown Lane. Runners will continue along Harlockstown Lane to the 6K mark, before taking another left at the junction onto Magillstown Road.

Magillstown Road carries you through to the 9K mark, where the route rejoins Balheary Road for the final 1K.

The race finishes on Balheary Road, just past the Scout Den.

Please note there will be hydration stations available at the 3K and 6K marks, and there will be a medical station close to the finish line.

With thousands of runners taking part, we encourage you to allow plenty of time on race morning to travel, park and make your way to the start area. Arriving early will help you enjoy a relaxed, stress-free start to your race day.

There will be two hours of free parking available at the Pavilions Car Park. An all-day parking rate of €4 is also available at the Swords Plaza Public Car Park.

We encourage participants to avail of the parking at Pavilions as it is a 15 minute walk from the start and there will also be shuttle buses bringing runners to the start from here.

If you’re within cycling distance, we encourage you to travel by bike. A bike park will be available close to the start area.

Traffic affected by the Irish Life Fingal 10K Run, Swords (Sunday
12th July 2026): – Traffic shall follow the signed diversion routes as
follows:

Detour 1 (Eastern / Northern diversion – via R132 & R129): – Traffic
travelling between Swords and Blake’s Cross shall follow the diversion
via the R132 (both directions). Traffic travelling onwards between
Blake’s Cross and Ballyboughal shall follow the diversion via the R129
(Thomondstown / Baldugan Hill) (both directions).

Detour 2 (Western / Southern diversion – via R108 & R125): – Traffic
travelling between Ballyboughal and Swords shall follow the diversion
via the R108 (towards Roganstown) and then via the R125 (Rathbeale road,
Watery Lane, Balheary road) back to Swords, and vice-versa in the
opposite direction.

Advance warning signage and VMS will inform traffic of road closures and
diversion routes.

The Official Pace Team will be provided by Sports Direct, and pacers will be available for finish times of 45, 50, 55 and 60 minutes.

As you enter the start area, look out for our pacers who will be holding large balloons with the above finish times clearly displayed on them.

Toilets will be available near the start area.

After you reach the finish line, you’ll be rewarded with a goody bag and official Irish Life Fingal 10K souvenir race t-shirt.

The goody bag will also include a Lucozade Sport and a water.
